Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films are renowned for their durability, flexibility, and versatility, making them a popular choice for protecting surfaces, particularly in automotive and electronic industries. Proper installation of TPU films is crucial to maximize their protective benefits. This article delves into the two primary installation methods: wet and dry. Each method has its own set of advantages and is suited to different applications and conditions.

Wet Installation Method

The following components are recommended for the wet installation method:

  • Large Touch Screen Device
  • Car Gear Shift Panel
  • Car Large Dash Panel
  • Car Window Control Panel
  • Car Instrument Panel
  • Car Seat Control Panel
  • Complex Air Vent Panel

Tools and Materials Required

  • TPU film
  • Installation solution (a mix of water and a few drops of mild dish soap)
  • Spray bottle
  • White felt scraper
  • Wiping cloth
  • Towel
  • Wet wipes
Step-by-Step Process

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Preparation: Clean the surface thoroughly using wet wipes to remove any dust, dirt, or grease, and dry it with a wiping cloth. Ensure the surface is dry before proceeding.
  2. Mixing the Solution: Fill the spray bottle with water and add a few drops of mild dish soap. Shake well to mix.
  3. Applying the Solution: Before starting this step, use a dust absorber to remove any hard-to-see dust particles. Then spray a generous amount of the solution onto the surface where the TPU film will be applied. This will help in repositioning the film during installation.
  4. Positioning the Film: Peel the backing from the TPU film and carefully place the film onto the wet surface. The solution allows you to slide the film into the correct position.
  5. Squeegeeing: Starting from the center, use a white felt scraper to press the film onto the surface, pushing out the solution and air bubbles. Work your way to the edges, ensuring that the film adheres smoothly.
  6. Final Steps: Clean off all the water bubbles, wait for the surface to dry completely, then peel off the protective layer.
