Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films are renowned for their durability, flexibility, and versatility, making them a popular choice for protecting surfaces, particularly in automotive and electronic industries. Proper installation of TPU films is crucial to maximize their protective benefits. This article delves into the two primary installation methods: wet and dry. Each method has its own set of advantages and is suited to different applications and conditions. Here is the Wet Method.

The dry installation method is typically used for smaller, less complex surfaces and requires a more meticulous approach since repositioning the film is more challenging.

The following components are recommended for the dry installation method:

  • Mobile Phone
  • Camera Display Screen
  • Smart Watch
  • Not wide and long shape surfaces: car air conditioning display, car inner door panel, car dash panel

Tools and Materials Required

Step-by-Step Process

Preparation:

First, as with the wet method, thoroughly clean the surface using wet wipes to remove any dust, dirt, or grease. Afterward, dry it with a wiping cloth, ensuring the surface is completely dry before moving on to the next step.

Guide Sticker:

Next, apply the guide sticker to the surface. This will help in the smooth placement of the TPU film.

Positioning the Film:

Then, peel off a small portion of the back layer to begin the initial fixation. Once the film is correctly positioned, press the previously torn initial fixation point using a white felt scraper or your finger.

Squeegeeing:

Afterward, using a white felt scraper or your finger, start from the initial fixation point and work your way out to the edges. Press firmly to ensure good adhesion and remove any air bubbles. If you encounter bubbles, gently pull back a small section and continue pressing to eliminate them.

Final Steps:

Finally, complete the installation by peeling off the front layer. Carefully double-check the surface, clean any remaining edge bubbles, and scrape them towards the edge with a scraper.
